A favorite 100% silk fiber. It comes in a 12 ply format. When pulled apart it easily divides into 3 sections of 4 ply each. One section is perfect for stitching basketweave on 18 count canvas. For 13 count canvas I would use 6-8 ply (1.5 - 2 sections). I have never had this silk snag on either my dry hands or the canvas. It has proven to be a very sturdy fiber that is a joy with which to work. If you are going to stitch this fiber using long stitches, I would recommend stripping your fiber first. (Stripping means to pull all individual plies apart and then put them all back together.) By stripping the plies, the fiber will appear to be more full and give you better coverage.
